The mythical and monstrous leader of the Fomóire (Fomorians) who emerged from beneath the seas to spread chaos, blight and drought throughout Ireland.
Tales of Balor often feature his many battles mano a mano against supernatural beings from completely distinct mythical traditions.
Balor is cursed (or blessed from his standpoint) with a scabrous eye that can burn to cinders whomever he looks upon.
