Daniel Cross,an ex-convict, recovering drug addict and alcoholic, had been experiencing painfully realistic [[Bleeding effect|visions]] from a past life for an undetermined amount of time. As he didn't know how to control these visions, he went crazy and soon found himself sitting in a psychiatrist's office.
At one point Daniel Cross was order by the courts to regularly visit a [[psychiatrist]] to help him deal with his [[Bleeding effect|vivid hallucinations]] and criminal tendencies. During one visit, Cross refused to take his prescribed drugs consistently and instead visited a local barl there he tried, unsuccessfully, to proposition several women before vomiting into a toilet.


Some time later, he was contacted by the [[Modern Times|modern day]] [[Assassins|Order of Assassins]], who told him that he was suffering from the "[[Bleeding effect]]" and was thus viewing the memories of one of his ancestors: the Assassin [[Nikolai Orelov]]. As both the Assassin Order and Daniel himself were curious about his ancestor's memories (namely what happened during the [[Tunguska Explosion|Tunguska event]]), Daniel was placed in an [[Animus]] to find out more about them.
After leaving the establishment, Cross very nearly stabbed a passerby, accusing him of being a [[Templar]]; he was stopped by [[Anna]], who revealed to him that he was an assassin.

  • His first name "Daniel" means "Judgment of God" or "God's Judgment" in Hebrew.
  • It has been revealed by the developers of the comic that Daniel will play "a significant role" in the story of Desmond Miles.
