Bardiche type weapons first appeared in the late 1200s. Aella's Bardiche was a bardiche given to King Ælla of Northumbria by King Louis the Younger.
During her travels, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan acquired this battleaxe at Jorvik Theatre.[1]
