Coral

Coral, or precious coral, is the common name given to a genus of marine corals, Corallium. Due to their durable skeleton, colored red or pink-orange, they are used in crafting many items, such as jewelry.

History

During the Reconquista, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins used coral in order to create various weapons, accessories and pieces of armor.[1]

Among the many treasures collected by the pirate Alonzo Batilla were a pair of snuff bottles with coral beadings.[2]
