Copper is a chemical element with a pinkish-orange hue, which is commonly used as a component of alloys, most notably bronze. The metal is malleable and has high thermal and electrical conductivity, bending and melting with ease.[1]
History
In ancient Rome, the metal was mostly imported from Cyprus, after which the metal was named.[1]
In 11th century England, copper was used by the Anglo-Saxons for things such as horse stirrups[2] and knife handles.[3]
In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins utilized the metal to forge a number of weapons and armors for use against the Spanish Templars.[4]
During the American Revolutionary War, the Kanien'kehá:ka Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton traded and used copper, among other things.[5]

Behind the scenes
The Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood description of Copper Ore references the origins of copper's name: what began as aes cyprium (metal of Cyprus/Cyprian metal) later evolved into various forms, among them the English copper.[6]
