The Château de Vincennes is a former fortress and prison in the town of Vincennes, a suburb of Paris.

The prison held several famous prisoners, including Honoré Mirabeau and the Marquis de Sade, who developed a passionate hatred for one another whilst incarcerated there.[1] Another prisoner was Jean Henri Latude, who escaped twice.[2]
