Charles Alexandre, vicomte de Calonne (20 January 1734 – 30 October 1802) was the French finance minister from 1783 to 1787.

Calonne was unpopular with both the nobles and the general populace, especially for suggesting new tax laws.[1] He came under the criticism of the Comte de Mirabeau, who was exiled to Prussia for doing so.[2] Crowds began burning effigies of the finance minister, who was eventually forced to leave the country in 1787, and was followed by several other ministers.[1]
