Chad was a 9th century Anglo-Saxon man from Jorvik, Eurvicscire.
In the 870s, Chad worked under a Norse employer, Burk, and was blinded after Burk accused him of theft of his goods. As a result, he became stranded below a bridge. Fortunately, Viking Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan heard his pleas for help. Eivor carried him up to the bridge. There, they were met by Burk and two of his men. When they seized Chad to try force him back to work, Eivor slew them to save his life.[1]
