The Cento Occhi (English: Hundred Eyes), were a group of thieves and bandits employed by Cesare Borgia, which rivaled those of La Volpe's guild. The Cento Occhi were initially led by Lanz, but Ezio Auditore killed him in 1503. Ezio also helped the Thieves against the Cento Occhi by completing several Thief Missions for them.
Unlike La Volpe's guild, the Cento Occhi preyed upon the poor of Rome. In 1503, several of their leaders were systematically wiped out by Ezio Auditore as they trained at the Circus Maximus.
The Cento Occhi first appear during the mission "High-Stakes Negotiations" involving the Rosa in Fiore. When Ezio sought an alliance with the Courtesans guild, he only discovered that their Madam, Madonna Solari, was being held for ransom by certain "slave traders." Upon securing the ransom and rendezvousing with the traders, Ezio discovered them to be members of the Cento Occhi. Upon recognizing Ezio, the thieves killed Madonna Solari, and attacked the Assassin instead.
Throughout the course of the game, the Cento Occhi attack randomly at night. They generally appear in large numbers, and more frequently ambush Ezio in areas still under the influence of the Borgia, and near Borgia towers. They fight and are armed similar to Agiles, and are commonly encountered during thief missions. After all the thief missions are completed, the bandit attacks will cease.
After any bandit attack or completion of any mission involving the Cento Occhi, the dead bodies can be looted for various trading items, and supplies such as throwing knifes, or smoke bombs.
Trivia
- Although being allied with the Borgia, when attacked by bandits, any nearby guards will help Ezio kill the Cento Occhi. After all the bandits are killed, the guards will attack him.
- In some thief missions involving the Cento Occhi, some of them will wield swords instead of daggers.
- Assassin apprentices require only one shot with the pistol to kill a Cento Occhi bandit (a regular guard requires three shots to kill).
- Even if not found commonly, the Cento Occhi ARE a great way to make lots of money. A good example is the thief quest: A blanket finish. ( Follow the Cento Occhi leaders to the end and there will be endless waves of bandits, each has over 200 F and a random trade item. Kill the leaders, but do not escape!
