Cashelore is a stone ringfort located in County Sligo, Ireland. During the medieval period, the fort was part of the Kingdom of Connacht.
History
In the late 9th century, jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan joined the High King of Ireland, Flann Sinna, and her cousin Bárid mac Ímair, King of Dublin, in their assault on Cashelore. By conquering this fort, Flann would tactically sever ties between Connacht kings and Ulster kings. Before their attack, Flann had Eivor invade the ringfort and open the gates from within. Afterwards, Flann and his allies sacked the ringfort and took over the compound under his name. Afterwards, all celebrated inside their victory over establishing Flann's control.[1]
Throughout her time at Cashelore, Eivor found a chest in its eastern castle and claimed a tungsten ingot. Eivor found another chest, looted it, and claimed Celtic Breeches, under the deck in the western tower.[2]
