Cardinals are members of the Catholic Church. They play a major role in the Assassin's Creed series. Some of the most significant Cardinals include Cesare and Rodrigo Borgia (who would later become Pope Alexander VI).

Appearances

Cardinals can be found in the Vaticano district of Rome and the surrounding areas such as outside the Castel Sant'Angelo, at any point when Ezio is able to freely roam the city. They're easily recognizable by their red or white clothes and wearing a scarlet galero (a wide brimmed hat), a zucchetto (a small skullcap) or a biretta (a cap with four peaks with tuft on top). They also feature heavily in some of the missions such as Mass Exodus and Seeing Red.

In the memory sequence "The Banker" you have to kill Cardinal Juan Borgia. When you kill him, he is not wearing cardinal's robes, aside from his hat, but they do appear in his portrait at the Tiber Island headquarters.

A corrupt cardinal appears during the memory A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing, working with Followers of Romulus. This cardinal has free-running skills similar to Ezio's, being able to do advanced moves, such

as using merchandise lifts and swinging into lamps. When he is confronted in a battle, he also show impressive fighting skills and avid agility.
