Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace (née Byron), best known as Ada Lovelace (1815 – 1852), was an English mathematician, translator, and writer. Known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical calculator, she is often regarded as the first computer programmer.[1]

In 1851, during the Great Exhibition, she was rescued from a gang of thugs by the acrobat Pierette.[2]
