The Boarding Axe

The Boarding Axe was a heavy weapon obtainable by Ratonhnhaké:ton during the 18th century. It could be purchased from any general store in Boston, New York, or the Frontier.

Description

This Danish Naval boarding Axe is typical of the European naval style. An Axe such as this is ideal for cutting ropes and destroying masts to ensure a ship's immobility.[1]

Trivia

  • The Boarding Axe is based on the Tojhusmuseet axe dating from 1675, the earliest surviving example of the first model of Danish boarding axes used from the 17th and throughout most of the 18th century.[2]
