Achaikos was the husband of the renowned lyric poet Praxilla, with whom they had a son named Orchimedes.
At some point, Achaikos, having learned of Praxilla's passion for poetry, gave her a lyre that she named after him. After raising Orchimedes for several years, Praxilla made the decision to leave both Achaikos and her son in order to pursue her dream as a wandering poet.[1]
