Batr was a dwarven fisherman who lived in Svaladal, Svartálfaheimr.

Biography

Batr was fishing near a lake north of Gnafandi Keep and unable to catch anything due to a cunning fish. The fish spoke and convinced Batr to drop his items in the water, particularly his treasure chest's key. Losing everything, Batr reconvened with his sister, Meiri, who scolded him for giving a fish his items. Luckily for them, the Æsir lord Havi was passing by and offered to help them by catching the fish. The siblings accepted his aid and offered him the key for the chest the fish has before leaving him to deal with it.[1]
