And Giovanni Borgia was an Assassin. As had been stated on several occasions, the Templars were driven out of Italy. If anything, it would've been a casual Templar, but a Borgia would be a very daring claim.
EDIT: Jofré Borgia even died in 1522. And Cesare Borgia had children with Charlotte d'Albret, but they were far from Italy, unaware of the Assassin and Templar war.
