Banir was one of Suttungr's Outriders, a secretive group of Jötnar spies and warriors, who invaded Svartálfaheimr during the Muspel invasion.

Biography

Banir followed his leader Riekr's orders and ventured off with his warriors into the southeastern part of Vangrinn. He ordered his company to interrogate any dwarfs they find, but his company divulged too much information among their dwarven prisoners, especially with Felman and Carr. Felman and Carr were then saved by the Æsir lord Havi, who was informed of Banir's location, which was west of Afalvat Mylna and south of Eitri. At his rendezvous point, Banir, who had transformed into his bear form, talked with his company about their tasks until they were attacked by Havi. Banir and his warriors fought against Havi, but he died in combat. From Banir's personal effects, Havi acquired the Jotun Vambraces.[1]
