Aurelian Walls

The Aurelian Walls (Italian: Mura Aureliane) were the city walls of Rome, and served as the boundaries of the city. The walls were built between 271 and 275 A.D. on the orders of Emperor Aurelian and were constructed to protect Rome from barbarian attacks. They largely stand intact to this day.
