A woman posing as the goddess Athena was active during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

Around 429 BCE, the woman situated herself in the Port of Kechries in Korinthia. It was here that she met the eagle bearing misthios Kassandra. Claiming to know her on fame alone, the woman tasked Kassandra to complete a riddle and investigate a Megarian graveyard.[1] After Kassandra completed a series of tasks, the mysterious woman questioned Kassandra on her choice of actions.[2] She also paid for guards to protect a key to the Foundry of Hephaistos Tomb. Once Kassandra defeated them, like she knew she would, the woman told Kassandra to enter the Foundry and find a legendary helmet.[3] Once Kassandra returned to the woman with the helmet, she accused her of posing as Athena, whereupon the woman praised her cleverness and gifted her the helmet.[4]

Behind the scenes
