The Impaler

The atgeir was a type of pole weapon that was primarily used in the Viking Age.

History

In 75,000 BCE, during the Muspel invasion of Svartálfaheimr, the Æsir lord Havi traveled the realm to rescue his son Baldr from the warlord Surtr. During his ventures, Havi found and utilized multiple atgeirs in his campaign against the Muspels.[1]

During the Viking invasion in England, atgeirs were used in combat, especially by the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir.[2]
