Astarte the Swamp (died c. 420s BCE) was a mercenary who operated in Greece during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

Astarte was said to have eyes as murky as deep, muddy waters and was known to make her enemies drown in their own blood.  To do that, she would strike a blow to a victim's head and would watch as the blood drained into that person's mouth.[1]

During the war, she crossed paths with the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
