RE:Delete an image

Hello Kd103, I'm actually not sure if I want to delete your image because it's not actually identical to the one you're comparing to. Honestly, the angle in both images could be better. The latter one is too far, and I like that yours shows Myrinne's face, but Kassandra is positioned awkwardly behind her. Anyway, I just wanted to double-check if you really wish for it to be removed. If so, I will do so right away without asking again.

By the way, I've been noticing your work on our memory pages, and I am so grateful for it. We need all the help we can get, and our manpower has been short of late, so keep up the great work! :) Sol Pacificus^(Cyfiero) 03:12, June 3, 2019 (UTC)

It's just that I don't want other people's screenshots be made obsolete. I'd like to use the screenshots others have uploaded when I can, and to my mind it fulfills the purpose of showing context, or what happened in the quest. I was just a bit careless, because some sidequests don't have screenshots at all, so I've been uploading a lot. This time I just forgot to look at the gallery.

I wouldn't mind it being deleted at all.

Hyphens vs. dashes in memory pages

Hello again Kd103, glad to see that you're still at it with the memory pages.

There's just only one minor issue I've been noticing—and I'm sorry for not explaining this sooner—and that is that you guys seem to be a bit confused about when to use the hyphen and when to use dashes. I can't really fault you guys for this since even Ubisoft constantly makes this punctuation mistake in their subtitles and documents and so many of our old memory pages erroneously uses hyphens everywhere, but grammatically, hyphens (-) are actually meant to be used only for compound words.

When used to separate clauses which constitute side thoughts in the middle of a sentence (like the above when I said sorry), a dash, either an en dash (–) or an em dash (—) should always be used instead of a hyphen. Either one is grammatically fine provided that the choice is consistent, but an additional rule is that when an en dash (–) is used, it must be flanked with spaces on either side – like so – while when an em dash is used, there must not be any spaces at all—like so. I'm sorry if this is confusing, but this is how the punctuation are formatted in English grammar. Furthermore, conventionally, our wiki uses the em dash for side thoughts, not en dash. I did consider maybe making an exception and using the en dash instead for dialogue since this would look more similar to what Ubisoft meant to use (instead of the hyphen), but I wasn't sure if that would make things even more confusing than just sticking with the em dash exclusively.

The en dash does have other exclusive functions though. It is used with date ranges, in titles, and to qualify lines, such as in "Kill – " or "Lie – ". In these cases, again, it would be incorrect to use the hyphen (or the em dash for that matter).

Last but not least, an exclusive function of the em dash is when a character's line is interrupted. In such a case, the only proper punctuation to indicate this is the em dash (—).

I think you and RShephard have been correcting hyphens to em dashes recently, but it looks like you guys are adding spaces around them which is still not exactly right.
