| ==DLC vs. novel==
| |
| Well, in the novel, it's said that Claudia resigned from the Rosa in Fiore some time in either 1504 or 1505. Yet in the DLC, she's still there and refers to the courtesans as "my girls". And, Ezio's looking to charter a ship to Navarre, while in the novel, he goes to Valencia first. I think that's pretty contradicting. -- Master Sima Yi 19:25, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
| |
| :Navarre is a region in Spain, Valencia is a coastal city. So Ezio would have go travel via Valencia go reach Navarre. As for the Claudia point however, you're probably correct. --<span style="color:#BF404D">Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record</span> 19:40, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

| == Paintings ==
| |
| | |
| Hey Ducato, here's the paintings you requested! I even included the targets' paintings. The filename is named after the correct title of the painting, so you know which painting is which. (With the exception of the targets' ones, which are simply named after the targets). Out of all these I'm missing four. I've checked everywhere and can't find the last ones. I'll keep checking, though!

| The user Il Lupo completely erased all of my editing on the page If At First You Don't Succeed... then said his reasoning for it was because I had "awful grammar, but nice try". | == Adding a new page ==
| |
| | |
| Hi Jasca Ducato, I was just wondering if it is worth adding a page for a new character that I know will be appearing in AC: R (I have this information from GameInformer). The problem is that there is not a lot of information in terms of AC: R but there is a lot of information history-wise from wikipedia and other sources about this characters role in Constantinople in that time period. Anyways, I just wanted to ask before I did anything because I don't want to cause the editors and admins any more work. Also, if you would like the source and details so you can add the page yourself then please let me know, otherwise with your permission I would like to add the page. Kaloneous 02:24, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

| | |
| Actually, I see this character is adequately covered (since the information at the moment is limited) in a page of his son on this wiki. Sorry to have bothered you about this. Kaloneous 02:27, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

| Guess what? I have books that disagree with you saying 'Realizing' is spelt 'Realising'... They are called DICTIONARIES. Look at that website, search for your wrongfully spelt 'Realising' you won't find it. If you're paranoid and think I constructed that site just to screw with you then go to a library and look at a physical dictionary, and look it up. It is spelled REALIZING.
| |
| | |
| There, you've just learned a small piece of good grammar.
| |
| | |
| Foreborn 03:44, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| To my surprise they are both correct, one American spelling and the other British. I've checked that word several times in official sources and with an 'S' it's always been called incorrect. I assumed they'd list all spellings but it appears not. You'd think they would, despite being American products, for completion if for no other reason. I had no idea until today the British spelt it differently.
| |
| | |
| No-one else here is American? I wouldn't make that statement. Spelling words with 'S' being correct, well, they are both correct, just variations. I really don't think this warrants any further discussion. What say we let bygones be bygones? Life's too short.

| == Image Policy Question ==
| |
| | |
| Hi Jasca Ducato, I am sorry to bother you with such a trivial question but I want to upload some images for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations but the images in question are taken from a website that states that "Artwork copyright Ubisoft. No portion of this Artwork may be reproduced without expressed permission." on the author's website (an artist at Ubisoft). My question is that does this mean that I cannot upload these images and if not then would a link to the website be appropriate in its stead? I would also like to point out that if this is the case (that I can't upload these images) that some of this artist's work is already on display on the wiki. I would appreciate you thoughts on this and thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. Kaloneous 03:30, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
| |
| :Can you post a link? As the policy actually says, Ubisoft release their material under a sort of 'trust' clause. This means you can automatically, and without needing express permission, use images from their publications so long as the image meets a set of requirements (all of which are described in the policy). This gentleman admits the images' copyright belongs to Ubisoft, so all you are required to do is attribute Ubisoft and the artist in question, assuming he actually had a hand in their production. --<span style="color:#BF404D">Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record</span> 13:56, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

| :Hi Jasca Ducato, thank you for your swift response and I am sorry for the delay in responding. I have looked over the wiki policy and the authors policy and I feel that it wouldn't be appropriate to post these images as they are his concept work which has not been released to the media and relate to AC: R in some instances but here are some unbelievable images on his site though. Anyways, I have been looking over his released work so I may have found an alternative so on his wiki page I am going to add his new website that contains the newly released material for anyone who is interested in it to view (on his website). | When the next in the bloodline is concieved, the memories of the father and mother are implanted onto that child, meaning that there can be no additional memories from that ancestor.
| |
| | |
| To put this into relevance, Altair conceived Sef with Maria in that bleeding effect vision, which meant that Desmond's bloodline had moved on and meant that Desmond could no longer view Altair's later memories as they could not be recorded through the DNA. | ==The Templar Ideal.==
| |
| It seems like the Templars share close ideals very similar to Objectivism(if they really are being both right-winged and atheistic). I have absolutely NO idea if Objectivism even exists in this game's world, but whether it does or not, the vision is still amazingly similar. Still, how would you exactly know they are atheistic or politically sane?
| |
| | |
| Did the developers say so? Or the writers? Or is it that your apart of the crew?
| |
| | |
| I see a lot of traits, but ironicly from BOTH sides.
| |
| | |
| - Templars view religion as their own mindcontrol device to opress the poor as they gain power.
| |
| | |
| - Assasins veiw it as a beautiful, culturious, tool for them to hide behind while they seek out wicked enemies.
| |
| | |
| - Templars are mindless military drones that uses symbolism to cover up their dark, army like, ruthless attentions.
| |
| | |
| - Assasins are sneaky open-minded killers that uses symbolism as art, rather then religion or politics.
| |
| | |
| - Templars stay close to religious structures at all costs to secure their trust, rank, and military might.
| |
| | |
| - Assasins usually avoid raligious and political buidings, only using them as quick 'around the corner' hide outs.
| |
| | |
| So far, Templars are shown to be:
| |
| | |
| 1. Atheists(politically fascist anti-theists)
| |
| | |
| 2. Nihilists(no afterlife)
| |
| | |
| 3. Deists(anti-communists, close relationship with the religious even though skeptical.)
| |
| | |
| While Assasins are shown to be:
| |
| | |
| 1. Atheists(ironicly moderate, neutral towards religion)
| |
| | |
| 2. Agnostic Thiests(a mixture)
| |
| | |
| 3.' Omnists(Believes in everything, ironicly leftests)
| |
| | |
| How would you know which catagory the Templars fall in? Choosing just one would be simply vague, since all three matches them equally. This goes the same with the Assassins. Even though it maybe fake made up history.... why would a history teacher on focus on the statistics of philosophical/idealistic beliefs on a population LONG dead? War! That's real life political stuff, Assasins and Templars in the game don't even care. Why can't this wiki be like any other normal wiki about crazy extremests and just lable these bad guys mentally deranged?
| |
| | |
| Mercenary Army invading a village with swords? We just think of them as thugs in it for the green.
| |
| | |
| Terrorists trying to take a base filled with nukes? We just think of them as fanatics blowing everything up.
| |
| | |
| Communusts invented another deadly weapon? We just think of them as hippy lunatics taking things TOO far.
| |
| | |
| Nazis come back to invade the world again? Well,... they're Nazis.
| |
| | |
| Do we EVER think about what's THEIR religion was while we're killing them in these games?..... No.... It's just a BUNCH of fun killing them, and the Templars are not real poeple (The real Templars are, not the ones in game sadly.) The Templar Ideal is just a way to prove their power and insanity, based on a story loosely based on Christain Mythology (extragerated stories, but NOT AS exagerated of how we have shown Pegan/Roman/Greek mythology in other games and movies.) In a manner of speaking, our Christianity never existed in their world.
| |
| | |
| Finding out the exact religion of either sides would be pointless as finding Atair's birthplace. The Templar Ideal acts as a religion itself for it's extremests. Atheism is NOT a religion. It's like implying not playing football is a sport. It is, like Christainity and Islam, been used for polical purposes, not actually caring for either beliefs. Assasins are not what we call 'moral' as well.
| |
| | |
| Why does have to have a specific religious/non-religious belief? Why not put nothing at all and remove religious/non-religious affiliations? Was it for the sake of gaming political correctness? If so, wouldn't it be ironic?
| |
| | |
| We can we just lable Assasins as "Protagonist protecting the would from Templar threats" and Templars "Antagonists that believes in nothing but power and greed", nothing relating at all to relating to words "religious" or "atheistic"? It's a GAME,' therefore we should treat it as such. If you play all the games, read all the fictional novels, the story is mearly just "Good guys VS. Bad guys". Nothing at all relating to either politics nor religion.
| |
| | |
| For example, the Justice League is filled with super heroes. Are the super heroes religious? Perhaps, but do wikis ever find this as meaningful information? Not really. We've seen our hereos around many types of symbolism, (Chritainity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism. Peganism). But NO factual sites ever affiliates them with one religiuos belief, just mystical ones. There is barely even clues of what political belief they lean on.
| |
| | |
| The Templars are just that, villians of the story. A brute military force using the Templar Ideal as an excuse to make overly long villainous monologues while the Assasins use this opportunity to kill them(Like any other story about Good vs Evil). Religion and Culture is just apart of the art style and politics is pretty much child-like and excuses for Templar's dark purposes.

| |
| | |
| : If you say the AC series is about "Good vs. Evil" then you clearly haven't been paying much attention to what is going on.
| |
| | |
| : The religious affiliation plays a major role, especially in the first Assassin's Creed and Brotherhood, where high ranking members of different religions are shown to abuse them for their own purpose. This information belongs to the franchise and the wiki, whether it's ajust game or not. The Templars are no superheroes, the fact that most of them are atheists is actually mentioned in the game - on purpose. Same goes for politics as well, since you mention them. AC made references to real world politics all the time (the best examples are the rifts from Brotherhood); they too belong on the wiki.
| |
| | |
| : Also, how Atheists are supposed to be "politically fascist anti-theists" and Deists "anti-communists" remains unclear to me. StPerkele 01:04, April 23, 2012 (UTC)

| == Ilario Auditore ==
| |
| | |
| Ilario Auditore is only mentioned in the Florence database entry, where he is only revealed to be a friend of Cosimo de' Medici. It doesn't say anything about ties to Giovanni or Mario. Which is also unlikely considering that Lorenzo told Ezio that the relationship between their families began when Giovanni rescued Lorenzo from the Arno. | == Family tree ==
| |
| | |
| Also, I may have a little suggestion for the family tree. Would it be possible to make a full line instead of a dotted line between two people like Ezio and Sofia, to indicate a marital relationship? Usually in family trees it is like this if I remember correctly, while a dotted line indicates that there is no official relationship status between two people, which could work for Ezio and the unknown woman. Do you reckon you could create that or do you find it unnecessary? -- Master Sima Yi 06:17, April 24, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| :Nevermind, I got it. Though I have another question. I may have a go at it myself later today, but if I fail do you think you could make a family tree for Desmond? Perhaps if we have some visual presentation of how his family tree vaguely looks like we can dishearten comments such as "ezio must be related to altiar cus he an ancestor of desmon 2 lol" and the like. -- Master Sima Yi 06:58, April 24, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| ::I could certainly make the family tree for Desmond; the problem is that we don't yet know on which side of the family his ancestors come from, and how or when their own bloodlines meet one another, so it'll be a messy affair. -- 12:37, April 24, 2012 (UTC)

| |
| | |
| ::::Looking good, although I should point out that typically, if an individual is married bu thas no child to that particular husband, they are not usually mentioned in the family tree (unless they are otherwise related to the others). I mention this with regards to your addition of an "unknown man" and "unknown generations" next to Claudia. Plus, the last chart says that William Miles and Desmond's mother are both siblings. Besides that, it looks pretty good.
| |
| | |
| ::::EDIT: I just noticed your point about the dashed lines. As it's a family tree, individuals that are related by blood are indicated by a solid line, whilst the dashed line indicates those of ambiguous or non-blood relation (such as a marriage). -- 15:59, April 24, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| :::::Claudia had at least one child, with Mario's captain of the guard as mentioned in the Renaissance novel. And yeah, I know William and Desmond's mother are shown as siblings, but it's kind of hard to make something appropriate in regards to that connection. And I was sure that solid lines were used for marriages, while dotted lines were used for non-marital relations like Ezio and the unknown woman he had a child with. Personally, I think using solid lines for marriages would help to distinguish them from non-marital relationships. Looking it up on Google, it seems that double lines are commonly used to indicate a relationship. But I will adjust it a bit, if I can. -- Master Sima Yi 16:14, April 24, 2012 (UTC)

| | |
| Hey there Jasca, do you think the Hermeticists fill the need for an Era icon? I was just curious as there are a lot of factions, but the Hermeticists don't quite seem to be fully Templar nor fully Assassin, but they still hold a set of philisophical beliefs and make up a secret order for themselves. Then again, there is the Frater VOV chapter in Project Legacy where Templars are involved.
| |

| If they do fill the need, I was thinking a caduceus symbol might fit with them, being followers of Hermes and all. Slate Vesper 19:12, April 24, 2012 (UTC)

| | |
| Instead of starting a discussion via an edit war, message me on my talk page next time. I didn't say "Lafayette was a Freemason because he had a sword with the Masonic insignia on it," I said he even has one. The source doesn't mention Israel Putnam being a Freemason either. | |
| | |
| :Erm, it wasn't an edit war... The source you gave made no mention of Lafayette, so you were wrong. As for the google link, that means nothing; just because he was a Freemason in real-life doesn't mean he was one in AC. Until you find a source mentioning Lafayette's name as being a Freemason in AC, I do not believe his name should be on that article (or Putnam's, for that matter). -- 23:50, May 17, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| ::Then shall we also remove the birth and death dates that aren't mentioned in the series, like for Desiderius Erasmus for example? The source only says this: "Prominent figures in the Freemason secret society during the American Revolution include George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Joseph Warren, and Paul Revere." This is in reference of what figures historically were Freemasons, not in the AC universe; we don't even know if John Hancock and Joseph Warren will be in the game. The source doesn't say "George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Joseph Warren, and Paul Revere will be depicted as Freemasons in the game." The source applies to what is mentioned in the trivia, not who were Freemasons. -- Master Sima Yi 07:59, May 18, 2012 (UTC)

| JD, Slate left you a message a while ago about the AC3:Liberation era icon. Guess you missed it as he'd continued in the Hermeticists era one. Could you make it, with 3L or something in it? And the Utopia one too, I guess-- 12:34, June 19, 2012 (UTC)

| ==Denver Incident==
| |
| | |
| Rather than being rude, I just want to discuss with you the probability of Daniel Cross being involved in the DIA Incident. Not only, was he known to be involved in a notable incident in Denver around the same time as the DIA Incident, but there was a witness who sent Abstergo an email in AC1, after the incident.
| |
| | |
| "”I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING. I KNOW WHAT YOU DID. I SAW HIM. HE HAD A METAL BALL. IT OPENED. THEY WENT CRAZY. SHOOTING. STABBING. TORE EACH OTHER TO PIECES. I KNOW IT WAS YOU PEOPLE. SAW THE LOGO. HEARD THE NAME. I’M GOING TO TELL. ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN. YOU’LL BE EXPOSED. THEY’LL KNOW THE TRUTH. AND THEN YOU WILL PAY. YOU CRAZY BASTARDS. YOU’LL PAY."
| |
| | |
| Who could it be but Daniel? Why would there be a memory on AC: Initiates about Daniel REFUSING to go on assignment in Denver after the incident, if it wasn't him? My edit wasn't simply speculation. We have an almost 100% chance of it being Daniel. Okay, my rant is over. Sorry about that. Just think about it. --Jjacobmartinn (talk) 16:44, October 1, 2012 (UTC)

| == Sourcing policy. ==
| |
| | |
| I'll think you'll find it does:
| |
| | |
| "Citations go immediately after punctuation and outside of quotation marks, with no space between the end of a sentence and a reference tag. It must be made directly after that which is being cited, so as to prevent confusion to the reader."

| Slate Vesper (talk) 15:32, October 4, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| :I wrote the policy, I know what it says. It makes no mention of intentionally inserting grammatically incorrect punctuation. The second sentence reads "It must be made directly after that which is being cited"; a grammatically incorrect full stop would prevent that from being the case. -- 15:38, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

| == DIA satellite incident ==
| |
| | |
| I saw you removed all traces from Daniel being involved with the DIA satellite incident. I spoke to Subject 16* about this, and he spoke with Richard Farrese, and told me that things like this are purposefully not explicitly stated to leave it open to interpretation and for players to discuss. It is one of those things that are not explicitly mentioned but is obvious to be true, like the woman at the end of The Chain being Nadya while it is not explicitly stated, and we all know it. Daniel was involved in the DIA satellite incident, they just purposely did not explicitly state so. -- 09:33, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

| ==Images==
| |
| Heey there, Jasca. Just wondering, but why did you revert all the renders back to thumbs? It is inconsistent with the usual way we place our renders on pages, which is without the "thumb-box" around them. I assume you have a reason for doing so :) Also, on a slightly unrelated sidenote: putting "seriously....." in an edit summary does not really read in a very friendly way, so you might want to avoid it. <span style="font-family:Blackadder ITC;font-size:19px;color:#FF033E;">Nesty</span> <span style="font-family:FlamencoD;color:#9966CC;">Contact me!</span> 17:45, November 13, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| :Floating renders on an article? It looks bad, the idea of a thumb box is to 'place' the image down, actually give it somewhere to sit rather than just floating in the air next to our text. People's complaints that the thumb box were not transparent have been (mostly) fixed, so there's no reason for us to not use them. Also, on a personal note, I believe the articles look much smarter and more presentable with a thumb box. It wasn't mean to read friendly. -- 09:18, November 14, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| ::Very well. I can get into that. Also, about the friendly reading bit: Mind your attitude or I will personally block you from the wiki. | |
| | |
| ::Also, seeing as you wish to do this without the floating renders, I suggest you either change all of the pages that have them in one go, or stop doing it. I don't really mind the way we do the images, as long as they are all done in the same way. I assume you'll understand. | ::::Regardless of that, there are others who are not very supportive of the thumbnails, as I see on the IRC. Thus we cannot make this decision between two people. A forum will be created to determine this, and I don't care by whom. -- 20:13, November 14, 2012 (UTC)
| |
| :::::I would also like to point out that having thumbs on some articles, and not on others isn't a very good way to go. If we're going to remove thumbs from our articles images, we should do it with every image on our articles. I'm getting sick of these bloody edit wars over childish things like thumbnails, and full stops and crap like that. Whilst your suggestion is not unfounded, I'm not going to create a vote over whether an article should be improved or not every time. -- 20:18, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

| == Redirect ==
| |
| | |
| JD, how is including a link of an image use up the bandwidth of the said server? Isn't it practical ONLY when the link is an image's source URL on the wiki? <small>—Preceding unsigned comment was added by Altaïr Skywalker 47</small> 12:51, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
| |
| :When you hotlink an image, all you're doing is providing an avenue to said image; we're not actually hosting the image ourselves. As such, when somebody clicks on that link, they are actually being redirected to the owner's website, which increases his bandwidth usage and subsequently, the amount he has to pay to his hosters.
| |
| | |
| :Normally, this might not be an issue, but if the website earns its money through advertisement, hotlinking to an image circumvents said advertisement, which means he loses money. Effectively, it's a bit like using the back door to get into a venue; you may not be paying the entrance fee (i.e. seeing the advertisement), but the person renting the venue is still being charged dependent on how many people are in the room. -- 16:21, July 30, 2013 (UTC)

| |
| :::Because it's not fair, or right, for the owner of a website to be deprived of earnings because somebody has hotlinked an image. Most of the objections revolved around the fact that the affect would be minimal (which is a fair enough argument), but that doesn't make it right. -- 15:55, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
