Lily? That's a common funereal flower in the West, seen also, I believe, as part of the wreaths at Clay's 'funeral', serving perhaps as another allusion to Clay's fate. That's the best connection, imo, beating the ancient Greek's thoughts about lilies being droplets of Hera's milk that hit ground (the ones that spilled into the sky forming the Milky Way), and the association of lilies with purity and innocence, their connection to Mary, mother of Christ...
