Freemasons = Templars

I find it odd that, at least in the AC universe, the Freemasons would be allied w/the Templars. I know about their alleged Templar origins in real life, but the Freemasons were part of the Enlightenment, and the Enlightenment ideals sound like the kind of thing that would be anti-AC!Templar and pro-AC!Assassin. Not to mention, Masons were persecuted in the Holocaust, and in the AC verse, Hitler was a Templar (then again, so were Henry Ford, FDR, Churchill, LBJ and Buzz Aldrin, who in real life were/are Masons). —M.C.Tales 19:27, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

In addition, are we even 100% certain that the Washington is a Templar and that the Freemasons are a Templar organization? After all, the only evidence we have (so far) that they are a Templar organization is at least circumstantial as far as the AC series is concerned. Also, I recently did some research, and according to Wikipedia, Harry Houdini was a Freemason (make of this what you will). Finally, the coded message in Glyph 3 merely says that the Masons brought the Third Apple to America and that Washington passed it on.
