After An Lushan rebelled in 755, Guanghui was captured by An Lushan's Yeluohe forces. Tortured to near death, he was tied to a flagpole and brought before the gates of Changshan's capital when the Yeluohe marched into that commandery. When Taishou Yan Gaoqing of Changshan left the safety of the city to meet with An Lushan personally, Lushan had his men execute Guanghui with a barrage of arrows in a display of intimidation.
