Xerxes I of Persia (519 BCE - 465 BCE), also known as Xerxes the Great, was the king of Achaemenid Persia during the Persian War, and the son of Darius I.
Biography
In 165 BCE, Xerxes was killed by the Assassin Darius, marking the first recorded use of the hidden blade.
Trivia
- Historically, Darius was also the name of the father of Xerxes.
- In reality, Xerxes was murdered by Artabanus, who was the commander of the royal bodyguard.
- The Bible named him Ahasuerus, husband of Esther and a friend of Jews.
