The Wellington Barracks is a military barracks in Westminster, London near the Buckingham Palace.
History[edit | edit source]
Designed and built by architects Sir Francis Smith and Philip Hardwick, the barracks was opened in 1833 and has since served as the home of the Grenadier Guards, the most senior regiment of the British infantry. The length of the barracks also runs between Queen Anne's Gate and Buckingham Gate.[1]
In addition to the Grenadier Guards, the Wellington Barracks also housed the Royal Military Chapel, which was destroyed in 1944. The chapel was rebuilt in the 1960s and has since served as the only remaining military chapel in all of London.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Wellington Barracks is a landmark in Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. In the database entry, the landmark's construction date is erroneously stated as 1838. Similarly, the Royal Military Chapel destruction date is erroneously listed as 1844 instead of 1944.
