A warg is a member of a race of monstrous wolves in Norse mythology.

Etymology

Warg is derived from the Old Norse noa-name vargr meaning "outlaw, destroyer or stranger" for the Norse word ulfr meaning "wolf".

Mythology

In Norse mythology, wargs played an important role in Ragnarök, with Sköll and Hati eating the Sun and Moon, while Fenrir killed Odin and is in turn slain by Víðarr. Other wargs are seen as mounts, such as when Hyrrokin arrived to Baldr’s funeral.[1] Odin himself was accompanied by two wargs, Geri and Freki.[2]

Legacy

Some members of the Isu race such as Fenrir were remembered as wargs.[3]

During the late 800s the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, due to her status as the host to the consciousness of the Isu Odin and via the aid of herbal concoctions, was able to enter dream-like visions influenced both by Odin’s genetic memory and her experiences and preconceived notions of Norse mythology where she interacted with wargs such as Fenrir[3] and the creations of Hel such as Bálulfr.[4] She also encountered shapeshifters [citation needed] who could take the form of wolf or man.

In the early 21st century, Assassin Layla Hassan used her Animus to modify the simulation of Eivor’s memories, turning her mount into a number of different wargs.[3]

Hati
Ghost This Spectral wolf usually roams the lands of the dead for a soul or two to feast on. No one knows why it decided to roam Midgard on the other hand… Reda's Shop or Gothic Pack
