The Véurr was a light shield named for one of the appellations of the Norse god of thunder Thor, and was meant to be used when a stealthy approach failed.
During the Viking expansion into Anglo-Saxon England in the 9th century, the shield was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories.[1]
