The Viana Castle was a large fortified Castel in Viana, Kingdom of Navarre (Coquered by Spain in 1512), held by Louis de Beaumont. It was besieged by Cesare Borgia and King John's army of 10,000 men in 1507. The Castel was an extremely strong natural fortification and essentially impenetrable at the time. As a result, Cesare besieged the Castel to weaken the forces inside, counting on a desperate surprise attack.
