Typhon was a monstrous creature in the Greek mythology. He attempted to overthrow Zeus, but failed, and was said to have been buried either in Boeotia or cast into Tartoros.

Influence

During the 5th century BCE a region of Melos, part of the Obsidian Islands, was known as the Typhon's Revenge. It consisted of two active volcanic islands.[1]
