Treasure Chests are small chests full of money, found within Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The money found inside can range from one hundred and fifty to a few thousand florins, and the amount is often in relation to the player's progress in their gameplay. The Treasure Chests are occasionally found in side-quests, and greater amounts of florins may be found inside of Chests which are the hardest to reach.
The chests could either be red or gold, with the latter usually containing more florins. When viewed through the Animus, they flashed unevenly with white, and could be seen most easily with Eagle Vision.

The Treasure Chests appear as flashing-white boxes, which are present in all Assassin's Creed II cities (usually hidden on balconies or on rooftops). If the player can find them, he or she will receive a certain amount of florins. There are 330 treasure chests spread over the 4 cities and mountains, as well as two hidden chests in each secret location.

Chests in cities are protected by a single guard, Banks by a team of four guards. However, not all chests are guarded- a lone chest may be found with no guards protecting it, such as those along the road of the Mountains.

Buildings that contain Codex Pages or Chests are referred to as Banks in the Animus Database, and bear a slight resemblance to Giovanni Auditore's office, though much smaller. Rebecca states that although all families own banks, most of these banks are owned by the Pazzi family, and that breaking into them (by silencing the guards) will be worth your time.
Banks contained at least two chests, and were always guarded by four men outside the doors. Rebecca Crane once stated that although all families owned banks, most of them were owned by the Pazzi family, and that breaking into them would be worthwhile.

Banks will always contain two chests or one Codex page. The amount of money you gain from each of these chests varies greatly, from rewards of 100 to over 1000 florins. A noteable fact is that if a treasure icon is lit dimly, this means that the treasure chest is located either above or below your current altitude.
Art Merchants also sold treasure maps that marked the locations of the chests in the entire city, or in one of its districts. They cost between 150ƒ-395ƒ in Florence, 150ƒ in the Apennine Mountains, 285ƒ in Monteriggioni, 175ƒ-240ƒ in Tuscany, 235ƒ-260ƒ in Romagna, and 485ƒ-995ƒ in Venice.

At certain points of the game, you may buy treasure maps that show the locations of treasure chests within that city- these may be bought from Art Merchant s. Aside from money, chests found in Rome could also contain a variety of trade items. Chests could also be found in the many Lairs of Romulus. Aside from money and valuable items, one special chest per lair could be found in the lair's shrine, which contained one of six keys that unlocked the door to the Followers of Romulus' treasure.
Treasure Chests operate slightly differently within this game; Chests are often found with no guards at all, and it is rare to find more than two guards protecting any chests during the entire game. The only real danger to keep in mind is that most of these chests are found on flat rooftops; Crossbowmen may notice and attack the player while they're busy opening the chest.

Instead of holding only money, chests in this game also hold items that may be sold in shops or used for 'Shop Quests'. These items may range from 'Jar of Leeches', a very ordinary object, to 'Jewelled Headdress', a valuable item that may be sold for a high price in nearly any shop.

A thing to note is that each item sells for different prices in different shops; Jars of Leeches will sell for more florins if sold to a Doctor, while Copper Ore would be more valuable to a Blacksmith. A wise player should not sell any items until they have completed Shop Quests.

The Treasure Chests may now be found in Lairs of Romulus, side-quests and during Core Missions. The player may choose to lose 'Full Synch' and gain money, though they can always restart the memory after gaining the extra valuables. Special chests may be found within Lairs of Romulus, containing keys that unlock a unique armour for Ezio to wear. The armour can only be unlocked with every Key, and it is called the 'Armour of Brutus'.

Armed Disputes and Battles
Avoiding armed conflict is ideal when looting banks, thus it is recommended to make use of Courtesans, Thieves or Mercenaries in order to distract the guards. Alternately, the player may simply throw coins so as to attract a cover of Civilians.
Additionally, it is possible, in Florence and Tuscany, to incite a small brawl using banks. To do this, the player must come across a Pazzi owned bank (guarded by soldiers dressed in Pazzi red, not Medici yellow), and either attract Medici guards to the Pazzi ones, or attract the Pazzi guards to a Medici patrol (by angering the guards and getting them to follow the player). Just lead them to each other and watch them fight.

Treasure Chests were small boxes full of money, which could be found in a variety of locations. Though most were found in Banks or under armed guard, they could also be located alone on various rooftops or streets. The money they contained could range from one hundred and fifty to a few thousand florins.

Chests scattered inside cities were usually unguarded, or protected by one or two guards. Those outside of cities, such as in the Appennine Mountains, were not guarded. In Rome, though not usually directly guarded, people opening chests on rooftops would be attacked by any nearby patrolling Archers or Crossbowmen.[1][2]

Banks contained at least two chests, and were always guarded by four men outside the doors. Rebecca Crane once stated that although all families owned banks, most of them were owned by the Pazzi family, and that breaking into them would be worthwhile.[1]

Art Merchants also sold treasure maps that marked the locations of the chests in the entire city, or in one of its districts. They cost between 150ƒ-395ƒ in Florence, 150ƒ in the Apennine Mountains, 285ƒ in Monteriggioni, 175ƒ-240ƒ in Tuscany, 235ƒ-260ƒ in Romagna, and 485ƒ-995ƒ in Venice.[1]

Valuable items

Aside from money, chests found in Rome could also contain a variety of trade items. These could later be sold to shops, or traded for other valuable items or equipment. They could vary between common objects, such as jars of leeches, or valuable jewelry.[2]

Chests could also be found in the many Lairs of Romulus. Aside from money and valuable items, one special chest per lair could be found in the lair's shrine, which contained one of six keys that unlocked the door to the Followers of Romulus' treasure.[2]
