Toa was chief of a village on the Samoan island of Savai'i. Around 824, a stranger came to ask Toa and his sister Nafanua for help, showing them symbols their culture recognized as harbingers of great evil. However, as war raged between east and west of the island, Toa had to remain behind while Nafanua travelled to Fustat.[1] After Nafanua died from having ingested poisoned water, Roshan retrieved her hook weapon Tafesilafa'i in the hopes she could return it to Toa and tell him where they had buried his sister.[2]
