The main entrance of the Temple of Demeter and Kore

The Temple of Demeter and Kore was a temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Demeter and her daughter Kore, located in the city of Tegea within Pan's Cradle in Arkadia, Greece.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra infiltrated the heavily guarded temple, killing the captain there, burning supplies and claiming their valuables, including Herakles' Mace.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The statue used for Demeter in the temple is the same used elsewhere in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for the goddess, and is thus based on Bertel Thorvaldsen's bronze sculpture of the Greek goddess Hebe. The statue used for Kore in the temple is based on the so-called Townley Venus, which is a Roman adaptation of a lost 4th century BCE Greek original.
