The Surtr Sword was a heavy weapon rumored to have been forged in the fires of Múspellsheimr for Surtr, the fire jötunn of Norse mythology, who was fated to use the sword to set Asgard ablaze during Ragnarök.
During the Viking expansion into Anglo-Saxon England in the 9th century, the great sword was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories.[1]
