The monument of the birds overlooking the village of Stymphalos

The Stymphalian birds were flesh-eating birds with steel feathers plaguing the surroundings of the village of Stymphalos in Greek mythology.

History

According to the legends, when the birds' numbers grew, they became a menace not only to crops and livestock, but also to the humans in the area, until the hero Herakles defeated them as part of his twelve labours.[1]

Influence

Following the birds' demolition, a memorial was set up on a mountaintop overlooking the village of Stymphalos in Arkadia.[2]

One of Layla Hassan's Animus modifications allowed Kassandra to obtain bracers said to have been made from the sharp, metallic feathers of the birds.[2]
