A view of the island with the statue

The Statue of Poseidon was a gigantic marble statue of the Greek god Poseidon on the Island of Triton, counted as part of Samos.

The Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the statue at the request of the Athenian sculptor Phidias during the Peloponnesian War, to find a symbol.[1]
