The St. Mary Matfelon was a church in Whitechapel, London, United Kingdom.
History
St. Mary was built in 1329 over the site of a former white chapel, built in 1286. Richard Brandon, the executioner of king Charles I, was buried in the church's yard following his death in 1649. After the Great Fire of 1666, St. Mary was rebuilt in 1685 despite sustaining no damage. It was later rebuilt again in 1875 in order to more closely resemble the church as it had been in 1329. During The Blitz in 1940, St. Mary was badly damaged, and it was eventually demolished in 1952.[1]
