The Treasure Fleet of 1715 was a convoy of Spanish warships that had departed from Havana, Cuba – in the Caribbean – and was destined for their home country of Spain.

Seven days into their departure, the Fleet hit a tropical storm which destroyed eleven of its twelve vessels; the one vessel to survive – the soon-to-be-christened Jackdaw – narrowly escaped due to the actions of the pirates Edward Kenway and Adéwalé, who had not long escaped from imprisonment on another ship in the fleet.
