The Sinopean Club was a gentlemen's club in London, England. Members of this club included high-ranking politicians such as Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli,[1] William Gladstone,[2] and James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan.[3]
History
In 1868, the British Assassin Jacob Frye discovered a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Disraeli and decided to infiltrate the Sinopean Club to figure out the identity of "B", the mastermind behind it. At the club, Jacob eavesdropped on an argument between Disraeli and Gladstone about the Corrupt Practices Act, before noticing a spy tailing Disraeli as he left the club.[1] Later on, Evie and Duleep Singh intercepted William Gladstone as he left his home for the Sinopean Club, posing as an official carriage. While Evie drove, Duleep attempted and failed to sway Gladstone to his cause.[2]
