The Archegesion of Delos was a ruined sanctuary located within the Sacred Lands of Artemis region of Delos. The sanctuary was dedicated to Anios, the mythical founder of the island polis.
During the Peloponnesian War the sanctuary was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
When the Spartan polemarch Thaletas came to the Silver Islands, he found the Archegesion to remind him of home, and thus became, by his own admission, his second favourite place on the islands. Finding a connection with another Spartan, Kassandra, he led her there for them to fight.[2]
