Senigallia is an Italian commune and port town located in the province of Ancona.[1]

History

In 1502, Cesare Borgia's top captains rebelled against him and he was forced to make concessions for them to rejoin his army. On New Year's Eve of 1503, Cesare gathered the traitors inside a room in the port town and arrested all of them.[2] His bodyguard Micheletto Corella strangled the rebels' masterminds Vitellozzo Vitelli and Oliverotto da Fermo,[3] while the rest would be killed a few weeks later.[2]
