The Sacred Lake on Delos

The Sacred Lake was a small lake located north of the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delos, Greece, with the stone statues of the Terrace of the Lions watching over it. It is considered to be one of the main features of Delos' landscape, despite its size.

In antiquity fishing in the lake was a punishable offence.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War the landmark was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
