The Royal Mint is the official maker of British coins, having been originally established around 886 and officially unified in 1279, where it began operating from the Tower of London.[1] Other mints could be authorized and put into operation by the monarch, such as the mansion in Southwark used by King Henry VII.[2]
History
In 1696, Isaac Newton became the warden of the Royal Mint, amidst a period of a rise in counterfeiting. William Lowndes, the Secretary to the Treasury of Great Britain and a member of the Assassin Order, contacted Newton through their acquaintance Omar Khaled, requesting his help against the counterfeiters.[3]
In 2019, Aliyah Khan relived Omar's memories in order to find a rare Royal Mint coin on which was inscribed a code word to disable a modern day computer virus.[4]
