The Roman Forum is a central location within the Italian capital city of Rome, surrounded by the ruins of several ancient Roman buildings and temples. It lays at the foot of the Palatine Hill.
By the time of the Renaissance the city had grown around the Forum, and it was a busy meeting place.[1] The site was used for several events such as public speeches, criminal trials and gladiatorial matches. It was also known as the epicenter of commercial affairs. The site was also populated with the statues and monuments of the city's great men.[2]
