Roger Bacon (c. 1214 – June 1292) was an English philosopher and Franciscan friar who placed considerable emphasis on the study of nature through empirical methods. He was the author of Opus Majus.[1]

In 2013, researchers assigned to Abstergo Entertainment's Sample 17 Project were told to pay special heed to any mention of the Voynich manuscript, in particular its connection to Roger Bacon.[2]
