Richard Thompson was the Deputy Governor of Harbour Island in the Bahamas and one of the wealthiest merchant of the Caribbean Sea due to his trades of legal and illegal goods with New England. He was also the father-in-law of the pirate and Templar, John Cockram.
In March 1718, while searching for La Buse, Alonzo Batilla came to Thompson seeking information on the whereabouts of his friend.
