The Republic of Florence, also known as the Florentine Republic, was a medieval Italian state centered on the city of Florence in Tuscany.
During the Renaissance, the city was controlled by the House of Medici and was the home of the Italian Assassin Giovanni Auditore da Firenze and his family.[1]
