Plutarch (c. 46 - c. 120 CE) was a Greek priest, philosopher and writer living under the Roman Empire. He is best remembered for the Parallel Lives, in which he coupled several biographies of notable Greeks each with a Roman counterpart.

During the 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from one of the several book shops in Constantinople.[1]
